We are gun enthusiasts from the great state of Texas, and we take firearms and our Second Amendment rights very seriously. Along with this great privilege comes serious responsibilities. Gun owner manuals clearly recommend cleaning the entire gun and magazine after each use, which we make sure is done on all our firearms. After shooting 100 rounds, the magazine is dirty like the breech and chamber, as gunpowder residue is forced downward into the magazine. Removing all the gunpowder residue from the magazine tube inner surface is tedious, as traditional cleaning tools and cleaning brushes do not make good contact with the dirty inner surface for thorough cleaning. In order to devise a method to quickly clean the magazine by total contact with the inner surface, foam was cut into cube shapes, cleaning solution applied, and the cube was pushed inside back and forth from bottom to top. This worked very well, and we were encouraged by fellow gun owners to produce and market a new gun magazine cleaning tool.
The Mag Swipe consists of a polyester foam which is oil resistant and fits nicely into both single and double stacked 9mm, 10mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP magazines. It also works well with AR 556 and 762 magazines. After cleaning the magazines, many use the Mag Swipe to clean the insides of slides and frames.
We must remember the magazine must be clean to keep you firearm in perfect working order. A dirty magazine may not feed cartridges into firearm chamber correctly, and the firearm will not function properly.
